Train at Depot. Serve Eeyou Istchee.
Selected candidates receive paid training and an allowance. After graduating, you will serve communities across Eeyou Istchee as a Special Constable for 3 years. While gaining real policing experience, you will be eligible to obtain your equivalency at ENPQ in order to become a fully qualified Full-Fledged Police Officer. This program requires a five-year employment commitment.
Steps
Eligibility Review
We verify that your application is complete and that you meet the Police Act eligibility criteria, including having no criminal record and no reprehensible conduct. Only applicants who meet all requirements move to the next stage.
Online Evaluations
You complete three online components:
• Cultural awareness training on Cree culture and realities• A psychometric assessment
• A language evaluation to confirm functional spoken and written English
Structured Interview
If you successfully complete the online evaluations, you are invited to a structured interview. Behavioural and situational questions assess your judgment, communication skills, and readiness for policing in Eeyou Istchee.
Background Check
A full integrity investigation is conducted, including criminal and penal record checks, financial and credit history, driving record, police and security clearances, and verification of employment, references, and personal history.
Commitment Agreement
If selected, EEPF covers training costs and provides an allowance during the 26-week RCMP Special Constable program. A minimum five-year service commitment and repayment conditions apply.
RCMP Security Screening
Your application is submitted to the RCMP for federal security clearance. This screening may take several weeks and must be successfully completed before training begins.
PARE
You must successfully pass the Physical Ability Requirement Evaluation (PARE) before attending Depot. Proof of a valid PARE result is required, as this test confirms you meet the physical demands required to attend Depot.
Medical Assessment
You must pass a medical examination confirming you meet policing standards.
