FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Nemaska, Qc – July 5, 2025 – Members of the Eeyou Eenou Police Force of the Nemaska detachment are issuing an update from the incident of July 3rd 2025 that occurred in Nemaska.

One individual (16) was arrested for their alleged involvement in the death of a youth.

The suspect had a phone appearance and is facing charges of second degree murder.

The Crown has objected their release and will be kept in custody at Batshaw Youth and Family Centres.

Due to the protections listed in the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the name of the youth suspect facing charges cannot be released.

Their next court appearance is scheduled for August 8th 2025 in Nemaska.

Eeyou Eenou Police Force would like to thank the public for their collaboration in this investigation.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with the community of Nemaska through these difficult times.
